I've had a mid-eighties MIJ Squier Bullet forever, but never really learned to play it, as I kept getting discouraged. I ask because at this point, I'm really not in the market for a new guitar. You would have to start at Baja to even come close, IMO. When I went back and picked up a MIM Fender again at the store, I just put it down, knowing it couldn't touch the ASAT Tribute. The result is astounding! Feels, sounds, plays AMAZING! I also had to replace the nut which was damaged, and I put some Schallers on it. Suddenly I'm really liking this! So I do a mod - I put a Fender 4-way switch in. WOW.Īsh body, gorgeous transparent finish, made in America electronics - the same ones as on the MIA ASATs! Pearloid pickguard, really nicely done neck. I end up buying it with a deluxe padded case for $325 shipped. So I'm looking around, and I spot a used G&L ASAT Tribute on the 'bay. Didn't seem like anything to write home about. I am a sucker for authentic stuff, so I naturally looking at MIM Fenders first. I'm actually not really a "Tele guy", but last summer, I just wanted one, but something cheap.
